Hell Let Loose: Vietnam launched on August 13 after substantial changes from its Open Beta and July Crossplay Playtest. The first post-launch hotfix is now live on PC, Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5, while Patch 1.2 remains an announced preview rather than a released patch.

Hotfix 1 improves AMD GPU stability, official-server capacity, server stability, the Server Browser and PlayStation 5 audio. It does not prove that every crash, VOIP issue or console visual problem is resolved, and there are still no independent release-build benchmarks on this site.

This page was last checked August 19, 2026. It separates live fixes from upcoming work and does not claim first-hand testing.

Hotfix 1 is live; Patch 1.2 is still upcoming

The official launch thread says Hotfix 1 went live on all platforms on August 16. Confirmed live changes include:

  • additional AMD GPU and general server-stability work;
  • more official servers across all regions;
  • more frequent Server Browser refreshes, full servers hidden by default, and priority for low-ping servers with 80 or fewer players;
  • server-crash fixes involving RCON messages and NVA Tunnels;
  • a fix for temporary PlayStation 5 audio cut-outs.

Patch 1.2 has not been released in the source checked. The developer previews more than 500 fixes and improvements, including tunnel-related server stability, stuck HUD elements, Commander-ability placement, knife hit registration, statistics, console image stability and keybindings. Treat those items as planned for Patch 1.2, not as live fixes.

The developer also says a 2026 content roadmap will cover future weapons, vehicles and battlefields, but the complete roadmap details were not yet published when this page was verified. Source: official Dev Comms Thread & Launch Updates.

Performance and graphics settings

The official Dev Q&A #1 says optimization has continued across PC and console since the Open Beta. It also says the launch build will offer a more complete range of video settings, including resolution scaling, while existing options have been refined.

That is useful direction, but it is not an FPS guarantee. The developer has not published a universal percentage improvement, and performance will still depend on hardware, resolution, server conditions and the final build. Treat old beta presets as a starting point rather than a permanent best-settings list.

Our best PC settings guide uses a repeatable test order so you can compare frame rate, frame pacing and visibility after launch without changing every option at once.

VOIP should be better, but one issue remains

The July Crossplay Playtest listed voice distortion as a priority issue. In the later Road To Launch update, the developer said the robotic voice effect should no longer occur in Command Chat or Squad Chat.

Proximity Chat has a narrower result. The effect should occur less frequently, but the remaining problem requires an update to the Epic Online Services voice system before the developer can integrate a complete fix. In other words, “VOIP improved” does not mean every voice channel is confirmed problem-free.

On launch day, test each channel separately:

  1. join a populated server;
  2. confirm the selected microphone and output device;
  3. test Proximity Chat with a nearby player;
  4. test Squad Chat with your unit;
  5. test Command Chat only if your role has access;
  6. note whether the failure affects one channel or all channels.

Use the full servers, crossplay and voice chat guide if a channel is silent, distorted or unavailable.

Audio changes go beyond voice chat

The Road To Launch update lists a broader audio pass for release. Helicopter sound effects were adjusted over distance, front-end music was reduced, and pings, foliage and weapons were changed to improve spatial readability. The developer also describes changes to hit and headshot confirmation, water movement, underwater swimming audio, character movement, explosions, Commander abilities and vehicle balance.

These changes matter because audio is part of navigation. Louder or clearer foliage, weapon direction and pings may change what returning testers notice first in a crowded fight. They do not establish an exact detection range or prove that every mix will suit every headset.

Keep your first audio setup conservative: choose a known output device, avoid stacking untested system-level processing, and change one setting at a time if direction or dialogue is unclear.

Early XP progression and weighted loadouts

The developer says early progression will be faster, selected roles will receive improved starting weight, and selected weapons will weigh less so they become available earlier. These changes support the game’s weighted-loadout system, where equipment choices are constrained by weight rather than being a simple fixed kit list.

The official update does not publish a complete level curve, the affected roles or every weapon’s launch weight. Any exact table copied from a playtest can therefore become misleading.

Returning testers should expect earlier access to some choices, but should inspect the release menu before planning a build. Our roles and classes guide focuses on responsibilities and beginner suitability until verified launch values are available.

NVA tunnel balance changed twice

The developer has announced tunnel changes across two update windows. Dev Q&A #1 said tunnels would be destroyed when the enemy captures their friendly territory, their cooldown would increase from two to five minutes, and travel and entry would take longer.

After the July Crossplay Playtest, the Road To Launch update added more launch plans:

  • reduce the maximum tunnel connection limit from five to four;
  • reduce travel speed further to limit rapid redeployment;
  • remove the Emergency Tunnel Commander ability while it is redesigned.

The later update is important because it reflects feedback from a newer build. These are announced launch changes, not proof that NVA tunnels will be weak or perfectly balanced. The developer says it will continue monitoring both NVA tunnels and US helicopters after release.

For the strategic differences without invented cooldowns or routes, see US Forces vs NVA.

AMD crashes and console visuals are not closed issues

Some players using AMD GPUs experienced crashes during the Crossplay Playtest. The developer attributes many reports to known AMD Windows driver issues outside its control, while also saying it identified game-side fixes that may reduce crashes and improve overall stability.

“May reduce” is not the same as “fixed.” Before troubleshooting the release build, record your GPU model, driver version, graphics API, game version and the action that preceded the crash. That evidence is more useful than applying a long list of unrelated tweaks.

On consoles, the developer was still investigating shadow and foliage flicker and popping. The update frames this as an ongoing balance between image quality and performance, so this page will not mark those visual issues as resolved until the release build or a later patch supports that conclusion.

Does beta or playtest progress carry over?

No. The official Crossplay Playtest information says its XP, progression and unlocks do not transfer to the full release. Returning players should expect to begin the August 13 release build with fresh progression.

Your knowledge can still carry over, but do not assume beta unlock timing, tunnel routes, map layers or preferred settings remain unchanged.

What remains unconfirmed after launch?

The official updates checked do not yet provide:

  • independent release-build benchmarks for specific PC configurations;
  • a complete role-by-role and weapon-by-weapon loadout-weight table;
  • confirmation that every AMD crash path is fixed;
  • confirmation that Proximity Chat distortion is fully removed;
  • a final console comparison covering foliage and shadows;
  • all six mode names and every launch layer (the six launch map names are now officially listed);
  • final server queues, filters and regional capacity under launch traffic.

Our maps and game modes guide keeps the confirmed totals separate from unrevealed names.

Post-launch recheck

Future updates will be checked against the current build and official notes for:

  1. the exact game version and any day-one patch;
  2. the complete video-settings menu;
  3. Command, Squad and Proximity Chat behavior;
  4. early role levels and visible loadout weights;
  5. tunnel connections, cooldowns, travel and Commander abilities;
  6. AMD crash reports tied to current drivers;
  7. console foliage, shadows and performance modes;
  8. any difference between the announced changes and the shipping build.
