Planet Zoo 2 aviaries are fully customizable habitats built with barriers, support poles and dynamic mesh covers. Frontier says flying animals will use both the ground and the air, and guests can experience planted walk-through spaces.
Only two live records in our July 30 Zoopedia snapshot carry the official HabitatFlying field. That count will grow as Frontier continues its reveals.

The flexible canopy system is the important distinction. It suggests that an aviary is not a fixed exhibit box, but the exact building controls and structural limits still need hands-on verification.

The Golden Eagle is one of the six animals in the Deluxe dataset.
What about the Toco Toucan?
Frontier’s official feature copy names the Toco Toucan. However, it did not have a live record in the 52-row Zoopedia snapshot checked for this guide.
We therefore list it as officially named, awaiting a live database record, rather than silently adding it to the counted total.
A pre-launch aviary planning checklist
- Reserve vertical space as well as ground area.
- Plan support-pole positions before filling the habitat with scenery.
- Keep a clear staff and keeper route.
- Decide whether guests will enter the habitat or view it from outside.
- Leave room to adjust mesh height and shape when species requirements appear.
- Do not lock in mixed-species plans until compatibility is tested.
These steps prepare a layout without inventing numerical requirements.
What remains unknown
Frontier has not yet provided enough public information to publish trustworthy answers for:
- minimum aviary area and height;
- maximum unsupported mesh span;
- species-specific temperature and foliage needs;
- social group sizes;
- compatible flying species;
- enrichment placement;
- staff workload;
- escape conditions;
- large-aviary performance.
Our launch tests will record each value with the exact game build and platform.
