Planet Zoo 2 Animals: 52 Officially Confirmed Species

A dated, source-backed snapshot of 52 live official Zoopedia records grouped by enclosure and edition.

Platforms: , ,
Status:
Illustrated terrestrial, aquatic and flying habitats connected in one landscape

The official Planet Zoo 2 Zoopedia contained 52 live animal records in our July 30, 2026 snapshot. That total includes 46 Base Game records and all six animals currently tagged as Deluxe.

This is a dated list, not the final launch roster. Frontier’s data includes a continuing reveal schedule, so more animals can appear before the October 13 release.

Database rule: an animal enters this list only when it has a live official Zoopedia record. Trailer sightings, community identifications, predictions and wishlists are excluded.

Confirmed animal count by enclosure

Official enclosure field Records What it means in this snapshot
HabitatTerrestrial 22 A terrestrial habitat record
HabitatAquarium 11 An aquarium habitat record
Exhibit 11 An exhibit record
HabitatAquarium + Exhibit 6 A record officially marked for either aquarium habitat or exhibit
HabitatFlying 2 A flying-animal habitat record
Total 52 Live records checked July 30, 2026

These are official data labels, not our guesses based on real-world zoology. For example, the African Penguin appears under HabitatTerrestrial, while the Golden Eagle appears under HabitatFlying.

See the aquariums and aquatic animals guide for the confirmed aquarium-building features and the limits of current pre-launch information.

Aquarium-or-exhibit animals

The official data gives these six records both HabitatAquarium and Exhibit. All six are marked as shoal fish:

  • African Tigerfish
  • Blue and Gold Fusilier — Deluxe
  • Blunthead Cichlid
  • Brown Trout
  • Clown Loach
  • Schooling Bannerfish

The dual label does not prove that every aquarium and exhibit setup has identical welfare, size or management rules. Those details require launch-version testing.

Exhibit animals

  • American Bullfrog
  • Axolotl — Deluxe
  • Boa Constrictor
  • Common Bluetongue
  • Danube Crested Newt
  • Diamondback Terrapin
  • European Peacock
  • Fire Salamander
  • Giant Malaysian Leaf Insect
  • Gila Monster
  • Golden Poison Frog

“European Peacock” is the official common name displayed for *Aglais io*, the butterfly. We preserve the official display name rather than silently replacing it.

Flying animals

  • Golden Eagle — Deluxe
  • Secretarybird

Frontier’s feature page also names the Toco Toucan when describing aviaries. It did not have a live record in the 52-row Zoopedia snapshot used for this page, so it is not counted here yet.

See the aviaries and flying animals guide for the confirmed construction system.

All six Deluxe animals

The Deluxe records in the official dataset are:

  1. Axolotl
  2. Blue and Gold Fusilier
  3. Golden Eagle
  4. Golden Lion Tamarin
  5. Great Hammerhead
  6. Longfin Batfish

This matches the official store statement that the Deluxe Upgrade Pack adds six species. Our Standard versus Deluxe guide keeps these animals separate from the decorative pre-purchase bonus.

What the database tracks

Our underlying snapshot records:

  • official internal ID and English slug;
  • common and scientific name;
  • official enclosure fields;
  • Base Game or Deluxe status;
  • shoal-fish flag;
  • class and order;
  • displayed conservation status;
  • reveal date;
  • direct official Zoopedia URL;
  • date checked.

We keep each dated snapshot instead of overwriting history. That makes it possible to show which animals were added between reveals.

What is not confirmed yet

This pre-launch list does not claim:

  • the final launch animal total;
  • complete habitat space or water-depth requirements;
  • food, enrichment or temperature values;
  • breeding and social-group limits;
  • which species can share a habitat;
  • Wildlife Reserve eligibility;
  • post-launch DLC plans.

Those fields will be added only when Frontier publishes them or when we can reproduce them in the release build.
