Planet Zoo 2 has one clearly confirmed cross-platform feature: the Frontier Workshop will let players explore and download player-created blueprints and creations from across platforms.
That statement does not automatically confirm cooperative play, cross-platform Franchise trading, shared saves or transferable purchases. These features solve different problems and need separate confirmation.
Cross-platform status at a glance

| Build the same zoo together in real time | Not confirmed | No cooperative-building mode is described |
| Cross-platform multiplayer or “crossplay” | Not confirmed | Workshop sharing is not proof of live multiplayer |
| Trade Franchise animals across PC, PlayStation and Xbox | Not confirmed | Animal trading is confirmed; its platform boundaries are not |

| Import original Planet Zoo blueprints | Not confirmed | Cross-platform does not mean cross-game compatibility |
What is the Frontier Workshop?
The Frontier Workshop is Planet Zoo 2’s community-content library. Official descriptions say players can explore, download, subscribe to and place player-created blueprints and creations in their zoos. Frontier also describes uploading your own work.
The important change is the phrase “from across platforms.” Planet Zoo 2 launches on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, so the Workshop is presented as a shared discovery layer rather than a PC-only Steam Workshop.
Does Planet Zoo 2 have crossplay?
Live crossplay is not currently confirmed.
The Steam store lists Planet Zoo 2 as a single-player feature and separately notes online interactivity. Its description also says players can trade animals in Franchise mode. None of those statements confirms two players building together or directly joining the same zoo.
For this guide, “crossplay” means players on different platform families participating in the same live session. Workshop downloads are asynchronous content sharing, so we do not label them as crossplay.
Is Franchise animal trading cross-platform?
Frontier confirms that Franchise mode lets players build a global network and trade animals with other players. It does not yet say whether the trade market is shared across PC, PlayStation and Xbox.
Until a platform FAQ or launch test establishes the boundary, assume only that trading exists—not that every platform uses one market.
Does Planet Zoo 2 support cross-save?
Cross-save between PC, PlayStation and Xbox has not been announced in the official sources checked for this page.
Steam Cloud is listed for the PC version, but that normally describes synchronization within Steam’s own environment. It does not establish PlayStation-to-Xbox or console-to-PC progress transfer.
We still need answers for:
- Frontier account requirements;
- whether one account can link several platform identities;
- which data, if any, is stored centrally;
- whether Career, Franchise and Sandbox saves behave differently;
- whether Workshop subscriptions follow an account or a platform.
Will every downloaded blueprint work?
The Workshop itself is confirmed, but blueprint dependency rules are not. A creation may use scenery, animals or other content that is not included in every edition or owned on every platform.
Before publication we will not promise automatic substitutions or complete parity. At launch we will test:
- a base-game blueprint shared between platform families;
- a blueprint containing Deluxe content;
- a blueprint with rotated, scaled and flexi-colour pieces;
- a large habitat or complete-zoo creation;
- missing-content warnings and placement failures;
- search, subscription, reporting and update behaviour.
Our Standard versus Deluxe guide explains which six animals belong to the Deluxe Upgrade Pack and keeps them separate from the decorative pre-purchase bonus.
What should creators do before launch?
- Keep an editable local record of complex builds rather than assuming automatic transfer.
- Label any Deluxe dependencies when sharing a build.
- Avoid advertising a blueprint as “works everywhere” until it has been tested on each platform family.
- Distinguish Workshop sharing from Franchise trading and cross-save in titles and descriptions.
- Record the game build and platform when reporting a compatibility problem.
